Hello, I'm Daria Kropacheva.

Daria Kropacheva (b. 1989, Bender, Moldova) is a contemporary artist working in figurative painting, whose practice brings together academic realism, symbolism, and a contemporary exploration of the human condition. Kropacheva received her initial artistic education at the Bender Art College, graduating in 2008. She subsequently continued her studies at the Academy of Arts of Moldova, specialising in easel painting, and received her Master’s degree with honours in 2015. Her academic training established the foundation of her artistic practice — a profound understanding of drawing, anatomy, and classical painting techniques, which remain essential to her work today. Kropacheva’s artistic language is rooted in a dialogue between the traditions of the Old Masters and a contemporary understanding of the human experience. A formative journey to Rome in 2016 deepened her interest in Antiquity, the Renaissance, and the Baroque. Their sculpture, composition, and expressive visual drama continue to influence her artistic practice. At the centre of Kropacheva’s practice is the human figure. Through carefully constructed compositions, gesture, anatomy, and symbolic imagery, she explores emotions, human behaviour, and inner states. In her work, the body becomes not merely a subject of representation, but a language through which psychological and philosophical ideas are expressed. Symbolic objects and figures frequently appear in her paintings as carriers of meaning. Rather than presenting a single predetermined narrative, Kropacheva creates visual situations that deliberately leave room for interpretation. Each work becomes an invitation to pause, question, and develop a personal reading of the image. Her work exists at the intersection of realism, symbolism, figurative painting, and magical realism. Kropacheva approaches painting as a means of creating contemporary myths, combining the discipline and methods of classical painting with her own symbolic vocabulary. Following her graduation from the Academy of Arts of Moldova, Kropacheva entered into an exclusive five-year collaboration with a gallery in Rome (2016–2021). Her subsequent professional career has included solo and group exhibitions in Moldova, Romania, Italy, the United States, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2022, she was a finalist in the 16th International ARC Salon in New York and has participated in international group and charitable exhibitions. In 2026, The Guide Artists published a dedicated edition devoted to Kropacheva’s artistic career and symbolic universe, presenting her work as a meeting point between classical realism and contemporary artistic sensibility. Daria Kropacheva currently lives and works in Switzerland.
