We also welcome certain art-related objects and decorative works where they are appropriate for the marketplace.
All listings should clearly state whether a work is an original, reproduction, edition or attributed work, and sellers should provide as much accurate information as possible about the artist, date, medium, dimensions, condition and provenance.
What information should I include? Every listing should provide clear and accurate information about the artwork. This should include the artist or attribution, title, date or period, medium, dimensions, condition and whether the work is an original, reproduction or edition.
What photographs should I upload? Use clear, well-lit photographs that accurately represent the artwork. Where relevant, include close-up images of signatures, labels, frames, surface details, condition issues and the reverse of the work.
How should I describe the condition? Be transparent about the condition of the artwork and disclose any significant damage, restoration, repairs, staining, fading, losses or other imperfections. Buyers should be able to understand the condition of the work before purchasing.

Dark Gloomy Art charges sellers a 20% commission when an artwork is successfully sold through the marketplace.
For example, on a $1,000 sale, the marketplace commission is $200 and the seller receives $800 before any separate payment-processing fees.
There are no listing fees and no commission to pay unless a sale is completed. The 20% commission helps us operate the marketplace, support buyers and sellers, promote the platform, and continue building a community around dark and atmospheric art.

When an artwork is sold, the buyer completes payment through the marketplace. The seller then prepares and dispatches the artwork in accordance with the order and shipping requirements.
Seller proceeds are paid out according to the marketplace's payment and payout process, after applicable commission and payment processing fees have been deducted.
Sellers may be required to complete identity and payment verification before receiving payouts.
Who is responsible for shipping? Sellers are responsible for securely packaging and dispatching artworks sold through the marketplace.
How should artworks be packaged? Artwork should be packed using appropriate protective materials for its size, value and condition. Particular care should be taken with framed, glazed, fragile or high-value works.
Should I use tracked delivery? Where possible, sellers should use a reliable tracked delivery service and provide tracking information to the buyer. Appropriate insurance should also be considered for valuable works.
How quickly should I dispatch an order? Sellers should prepare and dispatch orders within the timeframe stated in their listing or marketplace requirements. If a delay occurs, the buyer should be informed as soon as possible.
Who is responsible if an artwork is damaged in transit? Sellers should package works carefully and retain any relevant shipping documentation. If an item arrives damaged, the buyer and seller should communicate promptly and provide photographs or other evidence where required.

Authenticity and attribution Sellers must not make misleading claims about the artist, origin, age or authenticity of a work. Terms such as “attributed to”, “circle of”, “school of” and “after” should be used carefully and appropriately.
Ownership and legal right to sell Sellers must have the legal right to offer an artwork for sale and must not list stolen, counterfeit or unlawfully obtained works.
Professional communication Sellers should respond to buyers professionally, provide requested information where reasonably possible and communicate promptly if an issue arises with an order.
Marketplace standards Dark Gloomy Art may review or remove listings that do not meet marketplace standards or that contain misleading, inappropriate or incomplete information.
